My 4th Grade Highlights

My favorite experience...

My favorite experience in fourth grade was our field trip to the UL, the Underwriters Laboratory. The UL is where scientist test everyday home appliances. In the UL we saw a lot of things being tested. Garage doors, microwaves, fire alarms, and video games. In the UL I learned a lot. I learned about different home appliances, electricity, and water pumps. The funniest thing was when we saw a toilet being tested. When I got home I told my parents about it and they said it was really cool. They said they wish they could have seen it.

One thing I learned....

In fourth grade I learned a lot of things. I learned about electricity, the ecosystem, math, music, art. My favorite thing was learning about the stock market in math class. We used a special program that simulated the stock market. All of the groups in my math class competed against each other in the stock market. We bought stock from a lot of different companies like Macy's, Disney, and Verizon. All of them were different and all of them were worth different prices but our equity was never below $92,000. We still don't know which group won.

My favorite unit of study...

My favorite unit was the electricity unit. We learned a lot of different things like circuits, light bulbs, and lots of other things. We built our own circuits and also tested them. Some of them failed and some succeded. We also tested a giant circuit, Did you know that to power a 100 watt bulb it takes about 20 D-Cell batteries? We also built a Quizz Board which was a lot circuits and a lot of cool questions. I was going on vacation and I was afraid I wouldn't finish it. But I did and when I was finished it was amazing.

One area in which I am most improved...

One thing I most improved at was in math when I started fourth grade I didn't know anything about the stock market. And now I am ready to go in and buy some stock. I know everything there is to know about how to become a millionare in the stock market. I also improved in science. I learned a lot about rocks and minerals. I learned what thery are and how they are formed.

One thing of which I am most proud...

The thing I am most proud of is how much I have learned. I learned about a lot of different topics. I learned that fourth grade is one of the best steps in my life.
Fourth grade thought me abut the stock market and about the ecosystem. But another thing that I am proud of is all of he improvement I have made in my mind and in myself. Fourth grade thought me all of these things and about much more. Those are the things I am most proud of.

My favorite book in fourth grade...

My favorite book in fourth grade is the book Holes. Holes is about a kid named Stanley Yelnats who is under a curse that began with his no-good, dirty-roten, pig-stealing, great, great, grandfather. According to Stanley's family, his great, great, grandfather stole a pig from a one legged Egyptian who put a curse on Stanley's great, great, grandfather, Elya Yelnats, and all of his desendants. The curse follows Elya's desendants all the way to Stanley who is inocent for the crime he was convicted for. He is sent to Camp Green Lake, the Texas juvinile correction facility. He has to dig a hole every day until he runs away going after his friend who was also sent to Camp Green Lake. His friend was the grand, grand, grandson of the one legged Egyptian. After Stanley carries his friends up the mountain the curse if lifted. If you want to find out more you are going to have to sit down and dig into this book.

What I plan to do over the summer...

Over the summer I hope to do a lot of things. I hope to have a great summer camp. And I also hope to have a good time reading. I am going to read as much books as I can to get a lot of prices in the library's summer reading program. I am going to have a lot of fun reading and going to summer camp. I am going to have a great summer. I hope that the person reading this has a great summer too.

June makes me think of...

June makes me think of a lot of things. June makes me think of starting summer camp. The end of school. And a lot of other things. I love June because of all the things there is to do. Like going to the pool. Going on vacation and just having a great time doing whatever. June is also the beginning of something everyone loves. The beginning of SUMMER! I love June because of many reasons, but mostly because of the reasons I just wrote about.

New grade feelings...

When I came to fourth grade I felt both exited and curious. I wondered what kinds of things I was going to be able to do in fourth grade. And I was exited because when I was in third grade everyone said they had talked to fourth graders that said that fourth grade was awesome. I feel this same way about going into fifth grade. I hope fifth grade is as awesome as fourth grade was. There is many things I want to do in fifth grade. It would take a long time to write them. So I am just going to say this. Those things I want to do are the same things you wanted to do in fifth grade.

One idea to improve the school...

I have many ideas to improve the school. My favorite idea is to make the whole school use more computers. Using more computers reduces the amount of paper used by the school. But it doesn't just stay there because part of the idea is to put solar panels on the roof. Because what good will it do to not use paper and use more electricity that could come out of factories that don't use green ways to produce electricity. This will benefit everybody because using computers is also easier than using a piece of paper. It is easier to write erase and do a lot of other things easier than when you use a piece of paper. And it is also a green way to do things.
